New SAT conversion tool

March SAT results are now in, but how do you use them to assess your competitiveness at schools you’re considering when college admission profiles are all using the old SAT format?

With the recent release of concordance tables from the College Board, we now have the answer:  convert your new SAT scores to their old SAT equivalents.

Our New SAT to Old SAT Score Converter does just that and allows you to properly compare your SAT results to college admission profiles.

Resident and non-resident admission rates

As we all know, your residency can have a significant impact on your odds of admission to a public university.  And while you’d think there’s always an in-state advantage, the unfortunate reality is that there’s often not because non-residents pay full tuition and help balance tight budgets.

While most schools publish enrollment breakdowns by residency, far fewer report admission rates in this way.  For those that do, we’ve found a handful of cases - UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Santa Cruz, UNC Chapel Hill and University of Virginia - where the admission rate differences are pronounced enough to impact how College Kickstart categorizes the school as part of the list check.

This release of College Kickstart includes resident and non-resident options for these institutions.  When you add a school like UNC Chapel Hill to your list, simply choose the resident or non-resident option.
